Bidding for adorable Spanish-style in Pasadena will start at $749K

The curb appeal is strong with this 1927 Spanish-style house in northeast Pasadena: A white facade and red-tile roof combined with drought-tolerant landscaping are textbook Southern California.

The interior is dotted with wooden doors and “original hardware,” like a wrought iron chandelier in the dining room. In a charming, old-timey touch, the living room’s high, beamed ceilings appear to be decoratively painted. There are two baths and three bedrooms, and one has its own attached sunroom and built-in shelves.

The home is offered for sale on plumBid, an online real estate auction platform. Potential buyers have to register to bid on the site and qualify before the auction opens—in this case, on March 26.

Once the auction opens, buyers can see each other’s offers. Auctions only last three hours on a specific date, unless someone places a last-minute bid, which can amount to a short extension of auction time.

The auction format seemed to work well for an exceptional A-frame in Eagle Rock we saw earlier this month. Its starting bid was $699,000; it sold for nearly $1 million. We’ll have to wait and see how much excited auction participants drive up the price for this lovely Spanish nugget. It starts at $749,000.
